Julian House is now Alongside
New name, same mission.

On 9 June 2026, Julian House became Alongside.
Our name and visual identity have changed, but our commitment remains the same: supporting people experiencing homelessness, crisis and social exclusion to build safer, more stable and independent lives.
The name Alongside reflects the way we work every day: standing alongside people, meeting them where they are, and supporting them as they move forward.
It also reflects the breadth of our work today. While Julian House began as a Bath-based hostel supporting people rough sleeping, our services have grown significantly over the years. Today, we provide accommodation, outreach and specialist support across the South and West of England.
As Alongside, we continue to deliver our established services while building clearer pathways of support for clients at every stage of their journey.
Our mission has not changed. Our charity number, registered address and bank details remain the same.
We are still here, alongside our clients, supporters, partners and communities.
FAQs
Why did Julian House become Alongside?
We made this change partly to avoid ongoing confusion with another charity operating under a similar name, and to protect our charitable resources.
It also gave us an opportunity to choose a name and identity that better reflect who we are today.
The organisation has changed significantly since adopting the name Julian House in 2008. We now support people facing many different forms of social exclusion, including homelessness, domestic abuse, long-term unemployment, criminal justice involvement, addiction, poverty and poor mental health.
Alongside better reflects the full scope of our work, and the way our teams support people with empathy, respect and care.

Are you connected to other organisations called Alongside?
We are aware that other charities and organisations use the word Alongside in their name.
As part of the rebrand process, we carried out due diligence and are confident that our new name is right for us.
Has this rebrand been expensive?
We’re pleased to say that we’ve managed the majority of the rebrand internally, which has helped keep costs to a minimum.
We did engage an external local agency, Wind in Your Sails, to provide targeted support. Their input was valuable in ensuring we approached the rebrand objectively and in providing additional capacity during a particularly busy period.
Alongside this, we’ve taken a thoughtful approach to implementation running down existing stock such as leaflets and delaying the planned replacement of signage across our shops. This has helped us minimise waste and avoid unnecessary expenditure during the transition.
We are confident that our approach has meant that we've spent significantly less than the sector average on this rebrand
