Celebrating 25 years of the Circuit of Bath
On Sunday 20 September, people will come together to take on the Circuit of Bath, raising funds to support Alongside's work across the South and West of England.
This year also marks 25 years of the Circuit of Bath. Over that time, people have taken on the route for the challenge, the countryside, the chance to spend the day with others and to support our work.
In our anniversary video, previous participants share what they enjoyed about taking part and why they would encourage others to give it a go.
One participant describes the experience:
"You meet great people, you have great conversations and it's just a wonderful day out."
Another says:
"What I really enjoyed was being able to see the beauty of the surrounding areas of Bath."
This September, there are three ways to be part of the day.
Choose your challenge
35km Run
Take on the full 35km Circuit through the countryside around Bath.
35km Walk
Walk the full Circuit at your own pace, taking in the views and meeting other people along the way.
11km Mini Circuit
Looking for a shorter challenge? The Mini Circuit follows an 11km route along the canal path and is a good option for families, friends and anyone who doesn't want to take on the full 35km. Dogs can come along too.
Why your support matters
Alongside supports people experiencing homelessness, domestic abuse and other forms of social exclusion across the South and West of England.
Our teams provide accommodation, outreach and specialist support, working alongside people to help them build greater safety, stability and independence.
The money raised through the Circuit of Bath helps us continue this work. By taking part and fundraising, you are helping make that support possible.
It is something that comes through strongly in the anniversary video too. One participant explains:
"It's just pleasurable to be able to give the time and the effort, contributing to the work that they do and supporting the people in the community who need it the most."
A day to enjoy together
The Circuit of Bath is also a chance to spend the day outside with other people, see the countryside around Bath and take on a challenge together.
You can come with friends, family or colleagues, or take part on your own and meet people along the route.
One returning participant explains why they decided to take part:
"We did it last time because we heard about what a great cause it was and how much fun other people had."
And their advice to anyone thinking about signing up?
"Sign up, do it, you will not regret it."
